However the activities are of different forms and differ from each other and can be categorized into various sub categories such as LPO, RPO, and FPO etc. each having a different field of specialization.

Talking about Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO), it is a kind of high value added BPO service involving legal work that industry vendors or in-house departments of organizations outsource from off-shore areas where it is costly to perform. When it began, it consisted of mostly low end transcription work. But in the current scenario, LPOs now include high qualitative tasks such as IPR, patent application, registration of trademark and copyright, legal research, document review, contract management etc.

In the past three years, the industry has grown many folds due a blend of quality manpower and cost effectiveness. Although it is a niche sector, India's legal process outsourcing sector is seeing its returns double every year since past two years, with many new players setting up shop each year.
